MTerm Has Three New Features
Auto Log-in
For organizations that must keep network passwords and IP addresses
secure, PCTWIN for MTerm now supports auto log-in from remote machines
over the Internet. This prevents unauthorized personnel from accessing
the host properties.
Application Data
Programmers writing custom applications are now able to embed data with
the auto log-in. This is done through the new Applilcation Data field
in MTerm, which can be programmed to send information specific to a
client or group of clients to the host MTerm server.
When users
connect via Telnet, the Application Data is transferred to the host
with other login data. The environment variable is filled with this
data on the MTerm session and can then be interrogated in a batch file.
Host Definition Files
There is a new method for launching and replicating secure PCTERM for
Windows clients. Host Definition Files (PHD files) are created when
connecting to MTerm via Telnet. These files are often used when minimal
configuration and log-in input is required for a client.
Once the PHD
file is created, clients can connect to MTerm with one click. This
method hides the log-in information from the client systems, enhancing
security and removing potential maintenance concerns. PHD files can
also be used to launch applications directly from the Web or a UPN by
simply loading the PHD file in a browser.
These new features are available free to existing MTerm users. The upgrade, MTERM.ZIP, can be downloaded from this web site under Support.
